Your gift helps keep shelves fresh
Financial support is needed year-round to purchase fresh produce, meat, eggs, milk and margarine for the families we serve. Consider a monetary donation to help purchase these items. Frequently Asked Questions
Questions about giving
Are my donations tax deductible?
Yes. Donations to the Perinton Food Shelf are fully tax deductible. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and a receipt for tax purposes is available upon request. Whether you donate money, food, or volunteer your time, your contribution makes a real difference. For questions about tax deductions or to request a receipt, contact us at contactus@perintonfoodshelf.org or call 585-425-7410.
Can I set up a monthly or recurring donation?
Yes. Monthly gifts, even small ones, help us maintain steady support throughout the year. You can set up a recurring donation online through our donation link, or contact us at contactus@perintonfoodshelf.org to discuss other options.
When is help needed most?
Donations are needed year-round, but we especially need help during spring and summer when donations tend to slow down while family needs stay high. We also see increased need during the winter months and back-to-school season. If you are planning a food drive, those spring and summer months make the biggest impact. If you would like to donate at any time, we are grateful and ready to receive.
What food items can I donate?
We gladly accept non-expired, unopened food in its original packaging. To make sure your donation helps right away, check our Most Needed Items List first. The list is updated monthly and shows exactly what we need most. If you have questions about a specific item, call us at 585-425-7410.
Where can I drop off food donations?
We have four drop-off locations around town for your convenience. Visit our donation locations section to see addresses, hours, and phone numbers for each spot. For large donations please contact us first so we can make sure a volunteer is available to receive and sort your gift.
